Review: Joola Symmetry Pickleball Net

Joola Symmetry Pickleball Netz

Hello pickleball friends,

Today I'd like to share my experience with the Joola Symmetry Pickleball net . To be honest, I was initially skeptical due to the high price; at CHF 339, it costs almost twice as much as other mobile networks . But as they say, sometimes you get what you pay for.

Packaging and weight

The packaging is robust, and the individual parts are well protected. The net weighs a considerable 13 kg. It is therefore not only more expensive but also 45% heavier than conventional nets (often around 9 kg).

Construction

It took two of us about 5 minutes to assemble. The included instructions were helpful the first time, but after that they're unnecessary – it really couldn't be simpler. You don't need to pay attention to the pole numbering, which makes assembly much faster than with conventional nets. However, you definitely need two people to assemble this net!

Assemble poles > Spread out net > Insert pole > Mount center section > Tension net edge

It's that simple.

Game / Net edge

This is where the Joola Symmetry net makes all the difference. Once tensioned, the net edge is exceptionally stable, unlike conventional nets with a center pole. The higher price compared to standard portable nets is definitely noticeable here.

Looking at the pictures, it's clear that the Symmetry net is self-tensioning and therefore doesn't have a pole in the middle of the court, unlike conventional nets. This means it meets the official pickleball net specifications (sideline height 91.44 cm, center height 86 cm). With conventional portable nets that have a pole in the middle, these dimensions are unfortunately never accurate. For the exact net height specifications, see the Swiss Pickleball Association website.

Additional feature: with this net, the balls roll under the net - we all like that, don't we?

dismantling

Dismantling the Symmetry net is just as effortless as setting it up, taking only about 2 minutes. The net fits conveniently into the included, sturdy bag.

Use with children

Please note that while the net is more stable overall for playing, it is not suitable for schools or children. Children often stand around the net, tugging at the mesh and putting their fingers/hands through. When used by children, this net tends to become unbalanced more quickly than conventional nets and requires more frequent adjustments.

Suitable for all weather conditions, or not.

The Symmetry net is largely rust-free because the poles are made of a fiberglass composite, not steel. To prevent damage to the ropes, net, and poles, the net should not be exposed to harsh weather conditions for extended periods. It is no more wind-resistant than other conventional portable nets.

Conclusion

The Joola Symmetry Pickleball Net is for those who want to play pickleball seriously. It's worth the price, because it makes the game much more fun. However, for recreational play, meaning just for families, etc., you don't need to spend that much; a standard portable net will suffice.

Overall, Joola has created a real gem with the Symmetry net, which definitely offers added value for players looking for something special. Personally, I always play with a Symmetry net whenever I have the choice!

Sporty greetings,
