Pickleball in the Zurich region is taking another big step forward: with the opening of MOVECITY in Affoltern am Albis, four new pickleball courts are now available. And it's in a place that perfectly matches what pickleball itself is all about: modern, accessible, social, and full of movement.
MOVECITY describes itself as Switzerland's largest multi-sport hall for freestyle and trend sports. Across almost 13,000 square meters, various sports, movement activities, gastronomy, and meeting spaces come together. The new sports center has been in its soft-opening phase since August 26, 2026.
Central to this concept: four new pickleball courts.
For us at Pro Pickleball, the opening is particularly exciting because we had the opportunity to help shape MOVECITY's pickleball offering from the very beginning.
Four New ReboundAce Pickleball Courts
MOVECITY's Pickleball Arena consists of four courts with ReboundAce sports surfacing. Two courts are covered, and two are outdoors. This creates a new, permanent location for pickleball in the greater Zurich area, in Affoltern am Albis.

For us, this project is much more than just another court construction. It gives pickleball a prominent place in a facility explicitly dedicated to modern leisure, freestyle, and trend sports.
And that's exactly where the sport belongs.
Try Pickleball Without Bringing Your Own Equipment
The low barrier to entry is particularly appealing for new players.
You don't need to own your own paddle or order balls first. Paddles and pickleball balls can be rented directly at MOVECITY. Just pack your sports shoes, reserve a court, and start playing.
This makes MOVECITY suitable not only for existing pickleball players but also for anyone who wants to try the sport for the first time.
With friends after work, with family on the weekend, or as a shared experience with colleagues: pickleball works without a long introduction and is usually a lot of fun after just a few rallies.

If you don't want to stop playing after your first game, you don't have to look far.
Pro Pickleball supplies MOVECITY's shop with pickleball equipment. On-site, you'll find a selection of paddles and balls that you can purchase directly. The assortment ranges from easy-to-use beginner paddles to current performance models. The currently available assortment is also listed on our partner page.
This creates a concept that we find particularly useful for the development of the sport:
play, try out, rent, compare, and, if needed, buy the right equipment directly.
Especially new players don't have to struggle through countless paddle technologies, shapes, and materials before their first match. They can experience pickleball first and then decide which equipment suits them.

Soft Opening until September 4th
MOVECITY opened on August 26, 2026, and is currently in a soft-opening phase.
Until and including September 4th, there is a 50 percent discount on all admission fees. This makes now a pretty good time to discover the new facility and play your first pickleball matches in Affoltern.
The grand opening celebration will follow on September 5th and 6th, 2026.
During these two days, MOVECITY's offerings can be tried out for CHF 10 per day. In addition to pickleball, numerous other Move Zones and sports activities are waiting to be discovered.

An Important Step for Pickleball in Zurich and Switzerland
New pickleball courts are always good news. But four courts at a location of this magnitude are something else entirely.
Pickleball in Switzerland is increasingly evolving from a sport tried out on marked badminton courts to an independent offering with permanent courts, professional surfaces, rental equipment, and direct booking options.
MOVECITY can reach people who might never have actively searched for pickleball.
Someone comes to Affoltern for Padel, Parkour, trampoline, climbing, or an event, sees the pickleball courts, and wonders: What is that exactly?
A young sport needs exactly these kinds of encounters.
Pickleball doesn't just grow through tournaments and existing communities. It grows primarily when it becomes visible where people already do sports and want to try new things.
