Dear Pickleball Community,
As you may have heard in other media, the well-known bad-ass pickleball player Tyson McGuffin is switching from Selkirk to Joola - effective January 1, 2024 - and has collaborated with Joola to develop the brand-new paddle called "Magnus". This decision marks the end of Tyson's long-standing collaboration with Selkirk and the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
The Magnus paddle, also known as "Magnus Alpha 2024" in its lab version, is the result of the creative collaboration between Joola and Tyson McGuffin. Interestingly, it bears the name of our founder and CEO, Magnus Stedile-Foradori – we are delighted with this decision, along with Joola and Tyson McGuffin :)
During his time with Selkirk, Tyson McGuffin played with the Power Air Invikta Paddle, an impressively powerful paddle, especially in his own "Gold - Tyson McGuffin" version. The new Magnus paddle from Joola is not yet on the market, but we are working closely with Joola Europe to ensure it will be available here soon. In the meantime, we are showing you the Tyson McGuffin paddles from Selkirk and the Ben Johns Perseus paddles from Joola, as Tyson McGuffin's Magnus paddle might be similar to Ben Johns' Perseus paddle - we'll see.
The Magnus paddle, custom-made for Tyson McGuffin, features a thickness of 14mm and remains true to the power category. It promises an exciting blend of control and striking power. We are excited about the innovations Joola and Tyson McGuffin will present together and will, of course, keep you updated.
