Pickleball paddles don't have to look like technical lab equipment. And a brand doesn't need to take itself deathly seriously just because their paddles play at a tournament level.
Bread & Butter does things differently.
The American brand combines performance-oriented paddles with eye-catching designs, unusual product names, and quite a lot of personality. Models aren't just named Pro X or Carbon Series 4, but Filth, Fat Boy, Shogun, Invader, or Loco.
And that’s exactly what we like about them.
As of now, Bread & Butter is also available at Pro Pickleball in Switzerland. For the launch, we have chosen two versions of their most well-known model: the Bread & Butter Loco 16mm Hybrid and the Loco 16mm Elongated.
Pickleball should be fun
Bread & Butter was founded in 2022 as a family business. The idea behind it is quite appealing: Pickleball should be allowed to be performance-oriented without losing its playful character.
Or as founder Doug Sapusek describes the philosophy: Great equipment and a good dose of fun don't have to be mutually exclusive.
You can see it in the brand. Designs, packaging, and communication are deliberately unconventional, while the paddles themselves are developed very seriously.
In 2026, Bread & Butter was acquired by Selkirk Sport. However, the brand remains independent: the existing team around the Sapusek family continues to be responsible for product development, branding, and creative direction.
The result is a brand that actually still stands out in what has become a fairly crowded paddle market.
The Loco: 16 mm Foam Core meets Carbon
The Loco is one of the most well-known Bread & Butter paddles and was named "Paddle of the Year" in 2025.
Both versions available from us feature a 16 mm Dual-Density Foam Core made of EPP and EVA foam combined with a carbon face. The goal: plenty of power and pop without the paddle feeling stiff or uncontrollable.
The Loco is therefore aimed less at classic beginners and more at players looking for a modern performance paddle with an offensive character.
The crucial difference lies in the shape.
Loco 16mm Hybrid: the All-Court Loco
The Loco Hybrid is our recommendation for everyone who wants as much as possible out of a paddle.
With a length of 16.2 inches (41.1 cm) and a width of 7.6 inches (19.3 cm), it sits between a classic standard and an elongated paddle. This keeps the hitting surface large and relatively forgiving, while you still gain additional reach and leverage.
At around 224 to 230 grams, it is slightly lighter and faster to move than the Elongated version. This is particularly noticeable during fast hand battles at the kitchen.
The Hybrid is therefore particularly suitable for modern all-court players: drives from the back, drops in the transition zone, counters at the net, and controlled dinks all work with the same paddle.
In short: If you aren't sure which Loco shape you should choose, we would start with the Hybrid.
Loco 16mm Elongated: more reach, more leverage, more attack
Do you want to play more offensively?
Then the Loco Elongated becomes interesting.
With a length of 16.5 inches (41.9 cm), a narrower hitting surface, and a 5.5-inch (14.0 cm) handle, it generates more leverage. This helps with drives, overheads, and aggressive attack shots, and gives you additional reach on the court.
At around 227 to 233 grams, it adds a bit more mass to the shot. At the same time, the longer handle supports players who like to hit a two-handed backhand.
The downside of the elongated shape: in direct comparison to the Hybrid, the hitting surface is narrower and requires a bit more precision.

Which Loco suits you?
For us, the decision is quite simple.
The Hybrid is the more versatile paddle. If you are looking for fast hands at the net, a good sweetspot, and still enough power, it is likely the better choice.
The Elongated is aimed more at players who rely on drives, reach, and offensive pressure. The shape plays to its strengths particularly with longer swings and two-handed backhands.
Technically, both are very close to one another. On the court, however, they feel significantly different due to their differing geometry.
