Test report: Joola Symmetry Pickleball net

Joola Symmetry Pickleball Net

Hello Pickleball friends,

Today I would like to share my experiences with the Joola Symmetry Pickleball Net share. To be honest, I was initially skeptical due to the high price, as at CHF 339 it costs almost twice as much as others mobile networks. But as the saying goes: sometimes you get what you pay for.

Packaging and weight

The packaging is robust and the individual parts are well protected. The net weighs a considerable 13 kg. It is therefore not only more expensive, but also 45% heavier than conventional nets (often around 9 kg).

Structure

Two of us managed to assemble it in just 5 minutes. The enclosed instructions were helpful for the first assembly, but after that they are no longer necessary - because it really couldn't be easier. You don't need to pay attention to the pole numbering, so assembly is much quicker than with conventional nets. However, you can't set up this net on your own - you need two people to do it!

Assemble poles > Spread out net > Insert pole > Fit center section > Tension net edge

It's that simple.

Game / Net edge

This is where the Joola Symmetry net makes all the difference. Once stretched, the edge of the net is extremely stable. Balls roll off, the net returns the ball. The setup seems to be on the way from conventional mobile nets to the Joola Pro net 50% to go the distance. The surcharge compared to conventional mobile networks is definitely noticeable here.

If you look at the pictures, you can clearly see that the Symmetry net is self-tensioning and therefore has no rod in the middle of the court like conventional nets. This means that the official pickleball net definitions (height of the side lines 91.44 cm, 86 cm in the middle) are valid. With conventional mobile nets, which have a pole in the middle, the measurements are unfortunately never correct. See for the exact net height definition also online at the Swiss Pickleball Association.

Additional feature: with this net, the balls roll under the net - we all like that, don't we?

Dismantling

Dismantling the Symmetry net is just as effortless as setting it up - in fact, it only takes about 2 minutes. The net fits comfortably in the sturdy bag supplied.

Use with children

Please note that although the net is generally more stable for playing, it is not suitable for schools / children. Children often stand around the net, tug at the mesh and put their fingers/hands through it. When used with children, the net tends to become unbalanced more quickly than conventional nets and needs to be straightened more often.

Suitable for all-weather use, or not?

The Symmetry net is largely rust-free, as the poles are not made of steel but of a glass fiber composite. The net should not be permanently exposed to strong weather conditions in order to avoid damage to the ropes, net and poles. The net is just as unstable to wind as other conventional mobile nets.

Conclusion

The Joola Symmetry Pickleball net is a net for those who want to play pickleball ambitiously. The price is well worth it, because the game is much more fun. However, you don't need to dig so deep into your pockets for recreational sports, i.e. for a complete hobby with your family etc., a conventional mobile net will suffice.

Overall, Joola has created a real gem with the Symmetry net, which definitely creates added value for players who are looking for something special. Personally, if I have the choice, I always play with a Symmetry net!
